저는 어릴 때 아, 이쁘네. 같은 말보다는 아유, 진짜 똘똘하다 이런 말을 훨씬 많이 들었거든요. 네이버로 내가 나는 아이돌 가수가 될 거예요. 나는 말을 내뱉기가 조금 부끄러웠어요. 사실. 내가 바라보는 그 티비 속 아이돌 언니, 오빠들은 너무너무 반짝이고 예쁘고 그렇잖아요. 나 같은 게? 약간 고런 느낌이 있었어요. 초등학교 때도 가수라고 쓰고 싶은 거 안 쓰고 뭐 다른 걸로 써서 내고 그랬었는데. 커가면 커갈수록 더 해보고 싶어지더라고요. 아, 나 같은 애가 오디션을 보러 간다고 말하기 좀 낯부끄럽긴 한데, 그 낯부끄럼을 무- 무릅쓰고 막 갔어요. 네, 그게 시작이자 지금의 저를 있게 한 그런 겁니다.
When I was young, rather than hearing things like, "Oh, you're pretty," I heard, "Wow, you're so clever" a lot more. So, saying, "I want to be an idol singer," was actually a little embarrassing for me to speak out loud. The idol sisters and brothers I saw on TV were so incredibly sparkling and beautiful, you know? And I thought, 'Someone like me?' I had a bit of that kind of feeling. Even in elementary school, I wanted to write down "singer" as my dream, but I ended up writing something else instead. But the older I got, the more I wanted to give it a try. It was a bit embarrassing to say someone like me was going to an audition, but I had to brave the embarrassment and just went for it. Yes, that was indeed the beginning, and it is precisely what shaped me into the person I am now.
