Number one, the first connection of the soul with you is a temporary full connection, and that is when you're awake, like now. Number two, the soul has a temporary partial connection, and that is when you go to sleep. The soul partially leaves you, and so you lose your sense of consciousness and feelings. That's part of your soul leaving, but it's still connected partially, but temporarily.
