Every player is unique. You have shots you're more comfortable with and shots you struggle with. That's why patterns are important. A pattern is simply a sequence of shots that plays to your strengths, your bread and butter. These are the rallies where you feel most comfortable, where you've hit the shots hundreds or thousands of times, and where you know you have an edge. If you look at the top players in the world, you'll notice something right away. They each have patterns they go to over and over and over again. It's not random.
